Introduction

The Umeå Krio Research Centre (UKRC) is a unit within the English section of the Department of Modern Languages at Umeå University in the north of Sweden.

There are five people working in the unit, and their primary goal at present is the development of a digitalized database of Krio materials for research and other purposes.

The overall objective behind the establishment of the UKRC is to encourage the study of, and promote interest in, the Krio language, Krio culture and Krio literature.
